The production is presented by the historic Tavern Club, Murders R Us, and has been endorsed by the Friends of Meigs Field.  The storyline also includes a plan to maintain a herd of bison on Northerly Island.

Arlene Kahn and Ken Gayton are the associate producers and the cast features 12 Chicago actors including Chicago favorites from Tony and Tina’s Wedding, The Second City and IO.  Mr. Warshauer will act as host and emcee.

The audience will watch several scenes, hear about the murder, cross examine the suspects and eventually vote for who they think “done the deed.”  Each show features a different victim and murderer!

The story line follows the actions of Mayor Warren J. Weekly who orders an old downtown airport closed due to “security concerns.”  He makes a deal with the “Outfit” to put up a large casino in its place. At midnight the Mayor orders G Gordon Piddley, his loyal Chief of Staff, to “supervise the remodeling project.”  Piddley orders trucks out on the tarmac. The union boys love their work so they play a little game of tick- tack-toe with Xs and Os.

The Mayor of the great city has also ordered his Chief of Staff to get rid of his last obstacle: Move Old Lady Gladys Northerly and her idiot son (Norton) out of her quaint cabin at the end of Northerly Island. The Mayor thinks it will be a cakewalk but the old lady is tougher than he thinks.  Her son appears to be an idiot, but can he be bought? He exercises every day by “wrestling with a buffalo.”

Dom De Dahmdan, from Outfit Development is the contractor hired by Mayor Weakley to develop the propertyDom invested a great deal of his own money and political capital but little does he know that his own assistant might sell him out!

The rabid environmentalists are led by media darling Tray Huger.  He sees a bison preserve on the property and has ramped up to high gear to fight this injustice, but his attorney girlfriend, Barbara Bambshayle is becoming suspicious of Tray’s eco-terrorist ways.

Wilma Weekley, the Mayor’s wife is undecided about Northerly Island and has called in her personal clairvoyant, Madame Babushka to advise her about building a magnificent park.

The Chamber of Commerce does not want a park nor do they really want a casino but what does the Queen of fashion, our “Society Dame” want?  Does she wants to raise bison and buffalo on Northerly Island and use the fur?  This has twisted her poor husband into a pretzel.  Could he snap?  The battle lines have been drawn and its time for a, “Murder at Meigs Field!”

Mr. Warshauer has written and directed over 150 of these murder mystery plays presenting them in various venues from Alaska to Florida.  He says that he “loves Chicago and if you can’t poke fun at your own town, you should live in Oregon!”

The audience listens to clues, wanders around the club, cross-examines the suspects, and votes for who they think ‘dunnit!’  Murder weapons are everywhere so the audience must sort out the red herrings from the real thing.”

The Tavern Club, founded in 1927 “to encourage the arts, intellectual recreation, and good-humored interest in life” brings its members and guests a unique and traditional environment – one of comfort and style, with a dash of inspiration.  It .is located on the 25th and 26th floors of the 333 North Michigan building and has some of the most breathtaking views of the City.
