An all new story!

The year is 1968 and the College of the Siskiyous is in a financial pickle. Something must be done immediately to balance the budget or then Governor Ronald Reagan will close the campus in Weed; COS will cease to be unless something happens.

After his tragic and mysterious death, the youngest son of the great trustee Rocco De Posto has taken his place on the board. He is Rocco Junior and is quite the hippy.  Junior believes the answer is to generate taxes from a casino placed on Mt. Shasta. He has elicited strong support from some of the faculty. The banker, Gerry Gelter, holds a large mortgage on the university buildings and is thinking that casino money will pay off the debt for the college.

Others, including President Watts D. Mater believe it is a slippery slope to use gambling profits to operate a college. His sister, Alma Mater works in the geothermal science lab and she believes the volcano will erupt if any development occurs on the mountain.

Alma’s boyfriend, “Scooter” Pei, is a radical English instructor who seeks tenure on a troublesome Vietnam-era campus.

The Trustees also own a small piece of property that was left by Phineas T. Fyshkitt, the noted Nobel Laureate who invented and whose estate still collects on the patented ball cock in a standard toilet. His lonely widow, Eartha, and their strange son Flounder, still lives in two “cave estates” on the mountain, per the wishes of Phineas and with Department of the Interior’s grudging permission. Eartha is not sure about the casino but if it must come, there will be NO monorail and guests must be teleported to the casino resort.

Now the Trustees must move her and her son off of the place to provide the site for the casino.

A “businessman from Atlantic City” and his mob girlfriend have hired an “El Lay’ idealist architect named Biff Wellington. The idealist will have issues with G. Gordon Piddley who defends the college President with every fiber of his being.

Clair Vuyance, the owner of the Lemurian Lounge has the only liquor license in Mt. Shasta thus is an important part of the casino development. She insists on using her friend Bruce Willisss, an interior decorator from Forks of Salmon. Peter Perquet sees his job dissapearring as the kiosk intern if a casino arrives but puts on a happy face to all parties.

Musical guest Ray Charles will endorse the casino idea by appearing live for a benefit in the new Lemurian Lounge accessible via the monorail to the top of the mountain.
