Paul Warshauer - Writer, Director, Producer, Actor, Counselor, Teacher …
Paul Warshauer has been involved in performing arts for over 40 years. A proud Chicagoan, Mr. Warshauer began his career at age 10 playing Macbeth in a school play and he's been hooked ever since! Mr. Warshauer produced and directed his first play, "Adventures in Storybook Land" at Bay Harbor Elementary School in Florida in the 6th grade. His paternal grandfather, (Ben Warshauer was a pioneer in the automobile parking business) supplied Captain Hook's hat for Paul and his Grandmother, Libby Warshauer typed the program.
He graduated from Cleveland Heights High School with high honors and went on to study theater at Northwestern University. While there he created and produced the original improvisational show, Mee-Ow Show now in its 33rd year. He worked for the Library of Congress in film cataloging then attended California State University.
Since then, Paul has written, produced and directed nearly 300 productions. These include main stage musical plays, (South Pacific, Man of LaMancha, Guys and Dolls, Annie Get Your Gun, Follies) and has created and directed many programs for Youth Theater, (Treasure Island, Peter Pan, The History of the Universe in 94 Minutes). He directs theater classes and plays for adults, elementary, junior and senior high school kids, and has taught theater arts in public and private schools.
Paul also involves himself in play writing, sketch comedy, directing musicals, and in counseling. He earned teaching credentials in California, Oregon and Illinois. He also worked with kids of all ages in summer camps in California, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Oregon in theatre and drama. Paul also is proud of the work he has performed in youth development centers and drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinics. His goal is to help children (and adults) develop creativity, communication, self esteem and life trust skills using theater games and role playing.
Paul's interest in Murder Theater began in 1991 when he created audience participation dinner theaters for Classicos, an Italian restaurant in Oregon. Little did he suspect then that this interest would lead to over 200 original murder mystery plays for clients including Motorola, Toyota, TAP Pharmaceuticals, hotels, bed and breakfasts, Elks, Masons, Soroptomists, high schools, football teams, volleyball teams, many law firms, and corporations.
